Should I sell my car for junk, or as salvage?

It depends on your car’s condition. Junkyards pay by weight, so scrapping suits cars with little left to save, such as those damaged by fire or flood, rusted through, or simply worn out. Salvage buyers pay for the parts they can resell, so if your car is damaged in one area but sound elsewhere (like a rear-end collision that left the engine untouched, or a blown engine in an otherwise clean body), it’s likely worth more as salvage. Do I need to be at home when my car is collected?

Can I junk without a title in Memphis?

My car is registered in Mississippi or Arkansas. Can I still junk it in Memphis?

Yes. Plenty of Memphis-area drivers have cars titled in Mississippi or Arkansas, and an out-of-state registration won’t stop us from making you an offer. As long as the car is parked in Memphis, we’ll tow it away for free. Just have your photo ID and the title from the state that issued it, signed as that state requires. If the title is lost, you’ll need a duplicate from the issuing state: the Mississippi Department of Revenue or the Arkansas Department of Finance and Administration.
