In 2008, our team set out to change how people sold cars they no longer wanted.

At the time, getting a price often meant calling a scrapyard and accepting whatever that one buyer offered. We built Scrap Car Comparison in the UK around a better idea: bring buyers together and find the ones who actually want each car.

That idea grew into a business with expertise in scrap pricing, buyer networks and vehicle collection. 

It also taught us something a quote alone never could: a sale only feels simple when someone has taken care of all the complicated parts behind it.

When we looked at the U.S., we saw a huge market where selling an unwanted car could still mean calling several businesses yourself, comparing inconsistent offers and arranging pickup with someone you knew little about.

Wheels Away was built to take that work on: we brought our buyer network experience to the U.S. and paired it with local specialists who understand the vehicles, buyers and title requirements here. Our technology helps us find options; our team helps you make sense of them and sees the sale through to collection.
