How to Junk Your Car With No Title in Arizona

Step 1 no title icon
Step 1: Check the title status

Ready to make some cash from that old clunker with no title? We’ve got you covered!

First, make sure you check your title status with the Arizona Department of Transportation. You’ll need to create an account and provide ID.

You can then check if your junk car has an outstanding lien or a hidden salvage title that may affect your chances of selling it. This will also help you figure out whether you need a new or duplicate title.

Step 2: Check requirements

The process for selling a junk car without a title will vary by state. In Arizona, you don’t always need one.

  • Cars less than 12 years old: Require a title to be junked.
  • Cars 12 years old or older: Can be junked without a title.

We take a closer look at Arizona’s car titling requirements below, including how to apply for a new or replacement title, and what forms are required to get cash for your junk car without a title.

Step 3: Special Situations

Owner Affidavit (Form 46-4421):

If your vehicle is 12 years old or older, and does not exceed a value of $1200, it can be junked with the Owner Affidavit (Form 46-4421) instead of a title.

Note: You will also need to provide an odometer disclosure statement. Failure to do so could lead to fines and/or imprisonment.

If the sale value of the vehicle exceeds $1200, you’ll need a title to junk it. Follow the steps below to obtain a new or duplicate title.
